For roguelike fanatics, Dead Estate is more than likely a name you’ll know very well. For those not so entrenched in the world of ruthless random runs, it might be one that passed you by. Well, now’s the perfect time to change that, because after three years of support, Dead Estate just got its last ever update – but it’s also its biggest. To sweeten the deal even further, it’s just dropped to its lowest ever price on Steam.

When discussing the best roguelikes, you’ll always hear the likes of Hades, Dead Cells, or Into the Breach crop up – and rightly so. However, the criminally-overlooked Dead Estate is one that should be featured in those conversations more. The gory pixel art shooter not only plays brilliantly, but it’s incredibly content-rich – ten playable characters, well over 100 weapons, and loads of modifiers to make runs super varied. Over time, developer Milkbar Lads has only bolstered this content with free expansions, and now it is releasing its sixth and final one, titled ‘Goodnight.’ I’m not crying, you are.

In this new update, the haunted mansion that hosts Dead Estate’s action is gaining four new levels – three main floors, and an optional bonus floor. As you navigate these new areas, you’ll encounter 30 new enemies and five fresh bosses. To get the better of them, Milkbar has decided to expand your arsenal even further, with 31 new weapons (bringing the total in the game to 150) and 70 new items (taking that particular tally past 300).

It’s a properly meaty update for an already meaty game, and it sounds like the perfect send off for a roguelike that has been racking up an obscene amount of praise from players. It has close to 4,000 reviews on Steam and a whopping 95% of those are positive – that’s mightily impressive.

On top of Dead Estate getting even better with its swansong update, there is now a ridiculously generous 60% discount on offer that will let you snap the game up for just $5.99/ £4.55. Be swift though, because the offer only lasts until Monday, November 4. If everything you’ve just read still isn’t enough to convince you it’s worth six bucks, there’s also a free demo you can try too.

The Goodnight update for Dead Estate is live right now. To learn more about all the content that’s been crammed into the game, to try the demo, or to add it to your library, head to its Steam page here.
