Undead Labs will now turn its attention to its upcoming Xbox exclusive game, State of Decay 3.Undead Labs bids farewell to State of Decay 2 with Update 38Undead Labs is leaving us with a nice chunky update as it steps away from State of Decay 2, packing the game with new content, bug fixes, quality-of-life improvements, and more. Looking at the Update 38 patch notes on Steam, containers around the world will now have a chance to contain ten new hats and five new outfits in various colors and styles. You’ll also have an opportunity to find previous seasonal exclusive content in the form of seven new hats, such as the Scarecrow Mask and Cattleman Hat, and five outfits, including the Juggernaut Jacket. As for non-cosmetic gear, eight vehicles and five weapons have also been added — arrive in style with the Wizard Van!Update 38 also leaves us with a few quality-of-life improvements while we wait for State of Decay 3 to arrive, such as certain noise events no longer spawning zombies, instead only attracting zeds already in the area. Water will also slow vehicles now, although Undead Labs says it’ll affect some vehicle types less, like 4x4s. There are a host of bug fixes and gameplay adjustments too, so it’s definitely worth checking out the full patch notes for a look at everything included with Update 38. Undead Labs’ full attention will now be placed on State of Decay 3, which is reportedly launching on Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2025. While the team has been keeping tight-lipped about the game, it has shared snippets of information over the last couple of months. Much like its predecessors, State of Decay 3 will be an open-world survival game but set further into the zombie apocalypse, meaning recourse scarcity is an issue for those trying to survive. The survivors are far more resourceful in the sequel, so you’ll have more options for customizing your character.
