Microsoft has revealed a revamped Xbox Wireless Headset is available today, October 22, and comes with improved audio, an upgraded battery life, and a bigger price tag. An Xbox Wire post revealed the new Xbox Wireless Headset is available for $109.99, which is $10 more than the original at $99.99. You can buy it now at Best Buy and the Microsoft Store.Headlining the changes is improved audio, of course, as the new gaming headset features support for Dolby Atmos (“now included at no extra cost,” Microsoft said), Windows Sonic, and DTS Headphone:X to provide what Xbox called “immersive, spatial audio that brings games to life in vivid detail.”Image credit: Microsoft. It also has improved battery life, with Xbox promising up to 20 hours of playtime. The small print makes clear that “battery life varies significantly” depending on distance from the console, additional accessories, usage, and “other factors,” however. The microphone is upgraded too, with “advanced auto-mute and voice isolation” allowing for clear audio on the other end and the minimization of background noise. Finally, the Xbox Wireless Headset has been redesigned to allow for “maximum comfort” thanks to an adjustable headband, plush earcups, and on-ear controls.IGN’s review of the original Xbox Wireless Headset returned an 8/10, as we said it “delivers a well-rounded audio setup for consoles with some fine flourishes and a few minor flaws.” We’ll be testing out the new version in the coming weeks to see how it stacks up against the best Xbox headsets.Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelance reporter.
