It looks like Rockstar Games is working on a native Red Dead Redemption 2 PS5 port, if an employee’s resume is anything to go by. RDR2’s current-gen release has been rumored for a while and was confirmed to be in development at one point by an internal Microsoft document, but it has been reported that Rockstar canceled the port.
Will the rumored Red Dead Redemption 2 PS5 version coincide with the PS5 Pro?
This leak is brought to us by X user bogorad222, who saw “Red Dead Redemption PS5/Switch” mentioned on the LinkedIn profile of one Emma Anderson — a production coordinator at Rockstar Games. We’ve seen the profile in question, and can confirm its authenticity as it carries a verified badge.
RDR1 released on the PS4 and Switch last year followed by a 60 FPS patch on the PS5, which makes us wonder if Anderson is referring to RDR2. Worth noting that Anderson’s profile states that she started her current job in June 2023 — just ahead of the PS4/Switch launch and a year after rumors circulated that Rockstar Games canceled RDR2’s current-gen ports.
There are two possibilites here: 1. Anderson is referring to RDR1’s PS5 update (there’s no RDR1 PS5 port). It doesn’t make sense to release RDR1 yet again after the 60 FPS patch. 2. Rockstar Games didn’t cancel RDR2 PS5 port/resumed development, and will take advantage of the PS5 Pro.
