Zircon Firefly was born out of a passion for innovation and better wildfire management. The company was founded to address the growing need for more efficient and environmentally friendly methods of controlling prescribed and cultural cool burning practices and suppressing out of control wildfires. The flagship project, Firefly is a VTOL Aircraft, using novel thrust-based suppression systems from jet turbines or electric driven fans, instead of water or chemicals to extinguish fires. This patented technology can also be applied in broader emergency response efforts, delivery and cargo haulage.

This creates inefficiencies and limits continuous firefighting efforts. Our solution, the Firefly VTOL Wildfire Suppression Aircraft, overcomes this bottleneck by eliminating the need for water or chemical retardants. Instead, it relies on high-velocity thrust from jet turbines, allowing for extended firefighting capacity. The Firefly can land directly in the field, at the fire front, and quickly swap fuel pods with a 5-minute turnaround, providing up to 2.5 hours of continuous operation. This capability ensures more effective and sustained fire suppression. Additionally, our system leverages AI-driven real-time fire analysis, optimizing flight operations and ensuring rapid response to changing fire conditions. This combination of efficiency, adaptability, and in-field refueling sets Firefly apart from traditional firefighting methods.
