FlyQuest vs Gen.G Worlds 2024 Quarterfinals: Head-To-Head, Predictions and More

The remaining Western team struggles against Korea’s champs in the Flyquest vs Gen.G Worlds 2024 Quarterfinals match this Saturday!

Asian titans populate the Knockout Stage, and there’s only one NA team left to represent the West.

FlyQuest narrowly made it out of Swiss Stage with their win against fellow NA roster Team Liquid. But their victory was bittersweet, as the match pit the last two Western teams for a spot at the quarterfinals.

That said, Gen.G is the clear favorite in the match-up. The fearsome LCK roster has beaten reigning champs T1 time and time again domestically. And Chovy’s crew hasn’t given up a single series since Worlds started.

If FlyQuest can pull off a miracle, it’ll reignite North America’s hopes for an unprecedented deep run (and give the West a fighting chance.) Read our predictions for the Flyquest vs Gen.G Worlds 2024 Quarterfinal match below.

Flyquest vs Gen.G Worlds 2024 Quarterfinals: Who Will Win?

Prediction

The very obvious pick here would be Gen.G for their perfect offensive on the Rift and their near-flawless strategy. Their plays have outsmarted even the legendary T1 roster, and their coaches have been lauded even by Western influencers. But that doesn’t mean we can count FlyQuest out instantly.

FlyQuest kicked off their Worlds run with a quick win against a VCS team before going against Dplus KIA. The match was the first NA vs KR match at Worlds 2024, and ended as well as you would expect.

Valuing caution over bold plays, Bwipo and co. struggled to counter the LCK’s lane swap tactics. Conservative plays — while understandable — only led to gold being funnelled into the enemy carry. And in the end, FlyQuest couldn’t find a winning angle and played defense until Dplus KIA eventually pried their base open.

Their next match against the LCK was a best-of-3 series against Hanwha Life Esports, where they learned from past errors and put up more of a fight.

While they lost game 1 due to HLE’s lategame Kai’Sa, some great shot-calling from FLY Bwipo and Kacper “Inspired” Słoma gave them the first two drakes of the fight and slowly took back a 3k gold lead from the top-seeded LCK roster.

Through baited summoner spells, a patient Baron play and Soul Point, the NA contenders blazed into Hanwha’s base to take their first and last Nexus. But while it wasn’t a series win, they showed their capabilities, giving an upset a non-zero chance.

Head-To-Head

This will be FlyQuest and Gen.G’s first time meeting on the Worlds stage. Gen.G has consistently placed in the top 10 since they denied G2 Esports back in 2020. FlyQuest’s last Worlds appearance was on the same year.

FLY vs GEN Current Standings
