How To Get An Alligator In Fisch
To get an alligator, you need to head to Mushgrove Swamp. If you aren’t sure where that is, you can check out our map guide I linked above! To get here, you’ll need a boat. You can purchase these from the Shipwright NPC located in Moosewood after you complete two quests.
Once you arrive in Mushgrove Swamp you can start fishing! I recommend heading straight, then making a slight right, and fishing in the lake. If you have the Fish Radar item, a large orange box that says ‘Alligator’ will appear in the water. You can buy this for 8000C$ on the rock next to the Shipwright NPC in Moosewood. Position yourself so that when you throw in your rod, it lands inside the box. It isn’t guaranteed, so you may have to fish a while before you get one.
An alligator only appears in foggy or rainy weather. If it’s clear or windy, you can use a Tempest Totem to change it so it rains. Also, this creature will only appear at night, so if it’s day, try and get your hands on the Sundial Totem to change it. I have a Fisch Totem Locations Guide that explains where to find them.

- Bait
- Choosing the right bait makes a huge difference in the fish you can catch. The alligator prefers Fish Head bait, which has 150 Luck, -10 Resilience, and 10 Speed. Alongside alligators, this bait is also great for catching Great White Sharks and Great Hammer Head Sharks.
- Rod
- Arguably, the right rod is the most important factor to consider when fishing. As the alligator is of legendary rarity, you don’t need to focus on getting the endgame rods like Destiny or Mythical. Of course, they are your best bets, but if you don’t have enough cash, the Carbon Rod is a great option! It can hold 600 kg in weight and gives you 25% luck.
