A PlayStation Network database leak has found a back end image and reference to something called The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience for the PlayStation 5. The image first popped up on Reddit and can be viewed on image.api.playstation.com (still visible at the time of this writing). It comes with the title ID PPSA05753_00 ConceptId: 10004087.No further information is available at this time so, like everyone else, we’re guessing that this is supposed to be some kind of a movie tie-in. Following a lengthy absence, the Keanu Reeves starrer is headed back to theaters worldwide with The Matrix Resurrections later this month. An official synopsis for the movie reads:In two realities – everyday life and what lies behind it – Thomas (Keanu Reeves) will again have to choose to follow the white rabbit. Choice, while an illusion, is still the only way in or out of the Matrix, which is more dangerous than ever. Directed, produced and co-written by Lana Wachowski.Sony recently released Radiohead Kid A Mnesia Exhibition as a free download on the PlayStation 5 in collaboration with Unreal Engine maker, Epic Games. The exhibition was in the works for two years and was supposed to be physical, but due to the pandemic, it was released as a virtual experience on the PS5, PC, and Mac.By the looks of things, Sony’s Interactive Entertainment arm seems keen to bring non-gaming experiences to the new hardware via various internal and external collaborations.Whatever The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience is, we’ll find out in due course.[Source: Reddit]
