Rumour – Ubisoft’s Splinter Cell Remake Being Made On Snowdrop, 2026 Release Date

Ubisoft’s legendary Sam Fisher might’ve only made cameo appearances across multiple live service games in recent years, he is due for some time in the spotlight. And thankfully for the sake of the sanity of all Splinter Cell fans, Ubisoft confirmed that spotlight time was coming – back in 2021.A Splinter Cell Remake is on the way, and that’s about as much as we’ve known about it since that 2021 announcement. Updates about it have been arguably non-existent, though a new report might’ve just revealed a few details.Insider-Gaming reports that according to its sources, the upcoming remake is being developed using Ubisoft’s Snowdrop Engine, and the team is looking at a potential release date in 2026. Though the report does specify that the sources “didn’t want to be held to that time frame.”Assuming that it began development in earnest around the time of its 2021 announcement (or at least in 2021) then a 2026 release makes for a five year development time, which isn’t all that surprising considering how long most triple-A games take to make. The remake’s development is being spear-headed at the Ubisoft Toronto studio, which PSU had the chance to visit earlier this year to speak to the team ahead of the launch of Star Wars: Outlaws. Though we were there to talk Star Wars, that didn’t stop PSU (and every other member of the press in attendance) from asking about Splinter Cell, to which we were told that the game is still “in stealth mode.”Hopefully that doesn’t continue to be the case halfway through 2025, especially if it is meant to release sometime in 2026. Especially since if the release date really is two years away, then fans should probably give up any hope of hearing more before the end of 2024.Source – [Insider-Gaming]
