PS5 and PS5 Pro 30th anniversary scalpers are being mass reported to eBay after players decided to take matters into their own hands. The best part? It seems to be working to quite an extent, and there’s now an ongoing community effort to bring the listings down.
Sony only producing 12,300 PS5 Pro 30th anniversary bundles
When Sony announced PlayStation 30th anniversary hardware and peripherals, it highlighted on the PS Blog that only 12,300 units of the PS5 Pro and “highly limited” quantities of the PS5 Slim bundle and themed DualSense will be available. The items all sold out within seconds, as we previously reported, and not long afterwards, eBay listings to the tune of $10,000 per PS5 Pro bundle popped up.
Enter X user Jimmy Bowers, who announced that he’s having a lot of success reporting all the listings to eBay, which are in violation of the website’s policies. The result? Those listings are being taken down.

I don’t have many hobbies, but reporting the PlayStation 30th Anniversary console scalpers to eBay is quickly becoming a favourite… ? pic.twitter.com/Nq7Z7L6jI1— Jimmy Bowers @ Killzine ? (@jimmysbowers) September 29, 2024

Bowers is now being joined by others, although not everyone is having the same level of success. Still, the scalpers are being mass reported and eBay is taking action.
While these consoles will end up popping up on other platforms, it’s still quite cathartic to see scalpers losing one of their favorite platforms.
Do your part, PlayStation players!
