Sony Interactive Entertainment rolled out PlayStation 5 system software update version 21.02-04.50.00 across all regions this morning, which brought with it some good ol’ performance improvements. Although that’s all there is to the patch notes, it won’t be long before PS5 users notice any subtle changes, so we’ll keep our eyes peeled for reports as always and keep our readers posted. The last major firmware update was version 21.02-04.00.00 (today’s update is the third performance update rolled out since then), which introduced the much-awaited ability to expand PS5’s storage. While we figure out what firmware version 21.02-04.50.00 entails, make sure to turn on your console and download the update. If you want to perform a manual update, follow the steps below:Using a PC or Mac, create a folder named “PS5” on a USB drive formatted as FAT32. Inside that folder, create another folder named “UPDATE”.Download the update file (button below) and save it in the “UPDATE” folder. Save the file as “PS5UPDATE.PUP”.Plug the USB drive containing the file into your PS5 console.Start the PS5 console in Safe Mode: press and hold the power button, releasing after the second beep.Select Safe Mode option 3: Update System Software.Select Update from USB Storage Device > OK.If your PS5 console does not recognize the file, check that the folder names and file name are correct. Enter the folder names and file name using uppercase letters.Did our readers notice any changes yet? If yes, make sure to hit us up in the comments below.
