Veteran fighter Clay Guida feels he’s getting better with age ahead of UFC Vegas 44.

UFC lightweight Clay Guida may be approaching 40 years old, but he still feels in the prime of his career ahead of his fight with Leonardo Santos at UFC Vegas 44.

Guida has been in the UFC since 2006 and has fought against some of the biggest names in the history of the lightweight division. He’s earned wins over Nate Diaz, Rafael dos Anjos and Anthony Pettis over his illustrious career in the octagon.

During his UFC Vegas 44 pre-fight press conference, Guida explained his desire to remain active at lightweight despite being later on in his career.

“I’m trying to stay as active as possible. The older I get, the better I get,” Guida said. “I’m becoming more of a student of the game and I’m reinventing myself. This is my 55th professional fight, but I feel like this is my debut. We’re constantly evolving and the best is yet to come.”

Clay Guida is looking to get back in the win column after a recent losing skid

Despite his supreme confidence ahead of his fight with Santos, Guida is in desperate need of a win after losing three of his last four fights. His lone win came against Michael Johnson earlier this year, and he lost his last fight to Mark O. Madsen in a tough split decision defeat.

Guida hopes to impose his will with his wrestling prowess against the Jiu-Jitsu specialist Santos, and it could be a grappling clinic at UFC Vegas 44.

UFC Vegas 44 takes place on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021, live from the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, NV. Follow along with FanSided MMA, who is on-site for all your news and highlights.
