Start farming for materials in Anime Vanguards. Shadow Traces are important for the Anime Vanguards Evolution process and the Anime Vanguards Ascension method – but only for the Song Jinwu unit!
Anime Vanguards Shadow Traces
Shadow Traces are a requirement when evolving and ascending the Song Jinwu unit to the Song Jinwu (Monarch) variant. You need some other items too, but you’re here for the Shadow Traces specifically!
How to Obtain Shadow Traces
To get Shadow Traces yourself, you need to complete the Double Dungeon Legend Stage 2. You can only access this stage once you unlock the Legend Stages themselves, which requires the completion of the entirety of Story Mode.
Hopping into a Legend Stage is simple, as the option is in the same window as Story Mode. So, just do what you normally do, but click the other option instead – easy peasy! Our Anime Vanguards Legend Stages guide goes into more detail about the game mode.
Evolving and Ascending Song Jinwu
You need the Shadow Traces for both Ascension and Evolution.
Evolving
To evolve Song Jinwu, you must have 12 Shadow Traces in total, as well as the correct Essence colours.
- 12 Shadow Traces
- 12 Pink Essences
- 30 Green Essences
- 1 Rainbow Essence
- 10 Yellow Essences
- 15K Gold
Ascension
Ascending units differs from evolving them, but you still need the unit-specific materials to do so. Song Jinwu needs Shadow Traces for his Ascension too! The only difference is that you have to speak with the Ascnesion NPC rather than the Evolution one in the main lobby. Oh, and the fact that you need multiple copies of the unit in general.
So, if you’ve got a spare Song Jinwu, it’s time to ascend! I recommend ascending him as much as you can before you evolve him. This is because you’ll have to evolve all of your spare Song Jinwu’s to the Monarch variant before being able to continue with the Ascension.
