A Twitter thread from the official Xbox account has been sharing various special hashtags fans can use to fly the flag for their favourite series, ending in a few that we found particularly interesting. After name-checking the likes of Forza Horizon 5, Halo Infinite, Age of Empires IV, and Xbox Game Pass, we got this:That final one is what really caught our eye, as the phrasing of #6months6games makes it sound like it could be referring to a monthly rollout of new first-party releases. Even if not, that’s still the equivalent of one game per month for the rest of the year, which will be fantastic to see after the relatively slow start for Xbox Series X|S exclusives. The dates we have so far do actually kinda line up with monthly drop timing, too. Microsoft Flight Simulator lands on consoles in July, Psychonauts 2 is coming in August, Age of Empires marches onto PC in October, Forza Horizon 5 speeds into town in November, while the newly-announced Shredders (exclusive, if not first-party) is down for December. That only leaves September to fill, and Halo doesn’t really fit into that slot with its vague ‘holiday 2021’ window — maybe there’s a September release that we’re missing and Halo will slide into that December gap in place of Shredders? That could work. The other option, of course, is that we’re just reading too much into that hashtag, and that all Microsoft means is that it has six major games coming over the course of the next six months. Either way, what we know already alone comes darn close to a system of monthly exclusive releases, so either way, the rest of 2021 is going to be a fantastic time to be an Xbox player. And no, before you say it, this isn’t clickbait. Seems like nobody knows what that term even means anymore, and it’s incredibly frustrating. This is a perfectly valid question, backed up with facts and research that lend it credence, and even if we’re wide of the mark, the fact that five of the remaining six months of the year are effectively already accounted for means this is still something very much worth pondering. So what do you think? Monthly drops incoming, or just six games total before the year is out? When they’re as nicely spread out as they already are, does it even matter? Let us know!
