The Gloom Chitin Farm is a key bit of knowledge for skinners to know as they look to create, craft, and farm to your heart’s content.
Gloom Chitin is the primary resource used when looking to craft mail gear for the leatherworking profession in War Within. Mail skin farms are normally harder to come by, so this farming spot is an amazing way to get hundreds of Gloom Chitin for minimal effort. You can even use it to help you level.
Gloom Chitin Farm
Location
If we start from The Weaver’s Lair, our farm location is a little way to the North, to the West of the Faerin’s Advance quest hub.
Follow the arrow from Faerin’s Advance to find the farm spotFrom here, it’s a short trip to the farm location where you can farm all the Gloom Chitin you like.
The Right Tools for the Job
Now you know the location, it’s time to make sure you are prepared. The War Within, at least if you are leveling via the story, does not feature scaling enemies or zones. War Within is a linear questing experience, which means you will need to be around level 77/78 actually to kill the mobs here. If you’re level 80, then that is also fine.
Next up, while being a Skinner is obviously important, making sure you have your “Mother’s Skinning Knife” toy from Legion is also really important. For those that don’t know, this toy lets you skin all mobs in a 40-yard radius. So it’s pretty useful when farming mobs on this scale.
What will They Drop
These mobs will drop the following skinning items;
- Gloom Chitin
- Viridescent Spores
- Kaheti Swawm Chitin
- Clipped Bird Wings (these are a drop)
- Honed Bone Shards
Killing the Mobs
For this farm we’ll be killing 3 different mobs; Spored Skitterer, Spored Lasher, and Spored Stinger. You can see the lovely mobs below, and yes, they should be spiders but I don’t have the force of will to look at one of those up close for a screenshot.
Tips and Tricks
- Pick up skinning
- Have your Mother’s Skinning Knife
- Do it in a group, ideally two groups of 4 – you can normally find these on the group finder search for “Gloom Farm” or “Gloom Chitin Farm”
- Go to the area at level 77/78 and level while farming
- If solo, pet classes or tanks are ideal though spawn rate will be considerably lower
- Spec into the Concrete Chitin subsection of the Tanning tree to increase your drop rates and increase the chance of rank 2 and 3 drops
And that’s it, if you want to farm Weavercloth we have a guide here, but our WoW section is constantly being updated with new guides.
