Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 are finally going to get next-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X|S updates sometime in early 2022. According to CD Projekt’s latest earnings update, the company plans to release a “big update” alongside the next-gen releases of the two games. Additionally, the earnings call also revealed that the developer will “gradually” add multiplayer features to both Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3.Specifically, Cyberpunk 2077 PS5 and Xbox Series X is scheduled for the first quarter of the year, while The Witcher 3 should make its next-gen debut in Q2 2022.The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S version of Cyberpunk 2077 was initially penned for early 2021. While previous DLC added an alternate appearance for Johnny Silverhand, some clothing options, and a new vehicle, the next big update was supposed to add a “bunch of cool stuff” to Cyberpunk 2077. However, last month CD Projekt quietly changed its update roadmap, leaving fans concerned about the status of the promised free DLC. Fortunately, the new updated roadmap we now have a release window for the DLC.Moreover, CD Projekt also mentions that it is still working on an expansion for Cyberpunk 2077. Adding to this, the company also states that it is looking to “gradually” add multiplayer features to both The Witcher and Cyberpunk. While it initially considered developing a standalone online multiplayer Cyberpunk title, CD Projekt changed those plans back in March 2021 in order to focus on bringing online functionality to both existing games.CD Projekt president Adam Kiciński did not reveal which franchise will get online features first, however, stating in a Q&A session:We are not revealing which franchise will get the first multiplayer functionalities but the first attempt will be something we can learn from and then add more and more, so step by step we want to open doors to multiplayer, but adding some multiplayer activities gradually. The Witcher 3 will also get new content as well. Specifically, the next-gen Complete Edition featured in CD Projekt’s presentation slides indicates that it will add new items inspired by the Netflix Witcher series. Fans can also expect to see visual upgrades as well as all previous game expansions included in the last-gen Complete Edition, even if they don’t upgrade to the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions.[Source: Polygon, VGC]
