Sony has, for a change, rolled out a helpful PS Stars update following last week’s controversial announcement regarding the loyalty program’s points system. Starting October, points will expire in 12 months (previously 24) from the date that they’re earned. The good news is that you won’t have to scramble to figure out how many of your points are set to expire, and when.
New PS Stars August 2024 update is out now via PS App
Sony began rolling out a PS App update a few days ago, which I received today on my end. The update visually changes the PS Stars section a little bit, but the most crucial part of the update is tucked within the points section.
When members click on the points tab, PS App now tells them if they have any points expiring in the current month. This is what it looks like:

Without this, players would have to check their points history manually and figure out how many of the points that they have accrued are about to hit the 12-month mark.
Small update, but a significant and surprising one because Sony isn’t exactly known for being helpful.
Unfortunately, the update didn’t bring anything in terms of PS Store rewards, which still mostly contain virtual currency. Perhaps, Sony read my rant about the rewards section being useless. I jest.
