Esports events and production company PGL has announced a series of details about its upcoming global events, set to take place in 2025 and 2026.
The company will hold events in Belgrade, Bucharest, Astana, Buenos Aires, Barcelona and Sao Paulo during the two-year period. The prize pool for each event will be $1.25m (£940,000).
PGL first teased the new CS2 tournaments in April 2024 and has now provided further details on the host cities and dates for all of the tournaments. According to PGL, the new tournaments will each be a “standout event, setting new standards for esports.” There are a total of 10 tournaments announced, four in 2025 and six in the following year.
PGL has noted that the reason for this large amount of new tournaments lies in the changes Valve made to its rules, which will no longer allow teams to exclusively partner with organisers from 2025 onwards. In addition, each of the PGL events will be independent, and results from one tournament will not affect other events.
The 2025 tournaments under the PGL umbrella will kick off in February with the PGL on FiRe Buenos Aires, in the capital of Argentina. PGL Bucharest will take place in the Romanian capital in early April, and PGL Astana will bring CS2 teams to Kazakhstan in May. In October, Belgrade will host PGL Belgrade.
The four tournaments will also take place in the same locations in 2026, but Sao Paulo and Barcelona were added as host cities for two events in October and early November.
PGL shared the following conclusion via a release: “PGL is committed to delivering top-tier CS2 events, ensuring fair play, and creating memorable experiences for players and fans. We look forward to seeing the best teams compete in our meticulously planned tournaments across diverse and exciting locations.
“In addition to these 10 events, PGL has other surprises for the 2025-2026 calendar that will be announced at a later date.”
