The team at Ubisoft announced that the third season of Rainbow Six Siege’s Year 9, Operation Twin Shells, will launch September 10.
Operation Twin Shells brings with it the game-changing new Defender Skopós and her V10 Pantheon Shells gadget.
Using her shells Talos and Colossus, two remotely operated robots, she is able to quickly allocate offensive or defensive support to different map areas. Note that Skopós can only control one shell at a time, with one acting as an Operator and the other functioning as an Observation Tool.
Year 9 Season 3 also brings with it the Siege Cup beta. This playlist has 5-player squads placed in a skill-based ladder tournament to compete for rewards every two weeks.
Participants in the Siege Cup and Ranked playlists can earn Competitive Coins to redeem exclusive items every season. Note that it is available in Western Europe and North America on PC only, with the objective of testing servers and ensuring fair competition in the time before launch.
Note the Anti-Cheat Development Team is continuing to refine their efforts on testing and supporting new security updates, including binary hardening and developing QB System expansions.
This update to Rainbow Six Siege also brings with it the second part of Solis’ balancing update and changes for Attacking Operators Nøkk and Dokkaebi. In particular, the SPEC-IO Electro-Sensor now only detects electronic devices in central view.
The inclusion of Versus AI 2.0 lets players defend bomb sites against a team of trained AI Operators, aiming to provide a well-rounded training experience in addition to defending AI from Year 8 Season 4.
Rainbow Six Siege is available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC (including Steam), and Amazon Luna.
