The new Katalina Fortnite skin is another free one being offered! Frustratingly though, only to a fraction of players, are there other ways to do the Fortnite iOS Quests?
One of the more unexpected parts of the recent Fortnite season wasn’t what was vaulted or unvaulted in Chapter 5 Season 4. Fortnite iOS is back. The mobile version of the game is available again, but only in the EU.
Like they tend to do when they add new game modes, Epic is celebrating the new way to get Fortnite iOS with some quests. Notably, these come with a free skin! Katalina. It’s an Epic original skin and one that’s a bit more exciting than most of our freebies.
For those players who like to unlock everything that they can though, these Fortnite iOS quests might be frustrating. They’re only accessible to people in a single region. So, what are your options for unlocking the new skin?
How to Get the Skin – Fortnite iOS Quests
If you want to unlock the free Fortnite skins, there are a bunch of quests you’ll need to go through first. However, these aren’t accessible to everyone. Even though the tab to get the Katalina Fortnite skin has been pushed to everyone.
Logging in this season you’ll see a large Fortnite quests tab for these Katalina quests. Although, while they’ve appeared for everyone. A lot of players aren’t going to be able to claim them though.
To do the quests, you need to download the new Fortnite iOS mobile app. That’s available again in one region, the EU. Everywhere else it’s completely inaccessible. Fortnite is only back in Europe because of a change in regulation, everywhere else it’s still locked out.
If you are able to get Fortnite iOS, you’ll be able to complete these quests though. This is the easiest way to unlock the Fortnite Katalina skin. These are the Fortnite iOS quests:
- Earn 25,000 XP
- 50,000 XP
- 75,000 XP
- 100,000 XP
For each of these XP milestones, you’ll unlock another piece of the set. Starting with the wrap, then the pickaxe, then the back bling, and finally the outfit. You can track your progress in the quests tab.
It’s simple if you’re in the region to get Fortnite iOS. You just need to load up Battle Royale and play, or jump into one of the best Fortnite XP maps. Elsewhere though, it’s tricky.
Is There Another Way to Get the Katalina Fortnite Skin If You Can’t Get Fortnite iOS?
That’s the core way to get the skins. Earn XP while playing on an Apple iOS device. Since it was announced though, players haven’t been too happy. It’s a very specific way to get a free skin.
In the past, free skins have been accessible. There’s been some that came with real-world purchases, but these were more high-priced skins than free ones. Players didn’t really see them as free.
Instead, these skins were viewed as part of their bigger purchase. They even number in the rarest Fortnite skins. This one is different though.
Since the Katalina Fortnite skin quests have been put up in the game, everyone has the. “option” of unlocking them. If you don’t have an EU iPhone though it seems like you’re out of luck.
Are there any other methods you can use to unlock the skin or complete the Fortnite iOS quests without having to head to Europe and purchase a new phone?
Fortnite Creative Glitch to Get the Skin – Now Patched
One way around the Fortnite iOS quests was found pretty quickly by players. It involved heading to a Fortnite Creative map with a party member, then having them leave, and completing the Fortnite iOS quests.
This worked. For a few hours. It was very quickly patched, and it doesn’t work anymore. Compared to how long Fortnite Creative bugs take to get fixed, this was near instantly fixed!
What if You Can’t Get Fortnite iOS?
Where does this leave us? A few players have looked into sideloading the app, allowing you to sidestep the whole third-party marketplace thing. However, this will involve using iOS developer tools which require a subscription price. Not great for getting the Katalina Fortnite skin.
The choice is to pay $99 a year to access Fortnite Mobile by pretending to be an iOS developer who has recreated the app exactly and is testing it on their hardware… or wait till it comes to the item shop and pay the V-bucks.
The Fortnite Katalina skin is available for fee, but unless you’re in Europe the cost of completing those Fortnite iOS quests will be higher than the cost of just getting a skin from the store.
This is frustrating. Essentially, where it leaves non-EU members of the Fortnite player base are just unable to get a free skin without going through some expensive workarounds. If you’re really taken with the skin, the cheaper solution seems to be waiting for it to come to the Fortnite Item Shop.
In the meantime, anyone who can access the Fortnite iOS app can unlock the Katalina Fortnite skin. Otherwise, we’re just stuck with the tons of new rewards in the Battle Pass.
Hopefully, Epic adds a different way to unlock this skin. At the moment those outside the target area are being left out.
