What is Jim Harbaugh’s record against Ohio State?

What is Jim Harbaugh’s record vs. Ohio State as the Michigan football coach? The former star quarterback is seeking his first win vs. the rival Buckeyes.

Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh was once a star quarterback in Ann Arbor and won many games, including a perfect 2-0 as the starter against Ohio State. However, as a head coach, that has not been the case against the Buckeyes.

In five attempts, Harbaugh has fallen short against the Buckeyes, including a disaster in 2018, when Michigan entered the game as a top-5 team and proceeded to get blown out 62-39. There was also the controversial double-overtime loss in 2016.

As is the case, Harbaugh has been the subject of jokes and ridicule for his inability to beat Ohio State, specifically from ESPN’s Paul Finebaum, who proclaimed on Friday that Harbaugh was incapable of accomplishing beating Ohio State.

If that doesn’t strike a nerve at all for Harbaugh and his players, they should also read social media and see just how they have been disrespected for their inability to beat their rivals, especially former Ohio State linebacker Bobby Carpenter’s comments on how they “took the easy way” out of last year’s meeting that was canceled due to COVID.

Jim Harbaugh has his best chance to beat Ohio State this year

Since the start of the decade, Michigan only has three wins and none since 2011. The Wolverines have not won in Columbus since 2000, when Drew Henson was the quarterback, taking over for Tom Brady, who was 4-1 against the Buckeyes when he was on the roster.

It doesn’t get any better than this. This is all that matters right now for Jim Harbaugh and his troops. This win is not just for bragging rights and a berth in the Big Ten Championship Game but also for the potential opportunity to play in the College Football Playoff.

This year, Michigan has the team capable of bucking that trend, led by defensive end Aidan Hutchinson and quarterback Cade McNamara. Against C.J. Stroud and his wide receiver corps, it will require all hands on deck for Harbaugh to finally break through and capture a win that will give him a laugh that he so desperately has been seeking.
