Players who still love to hold a boxed game in their hands and who are looking forward to collecting the Monster Hunter Wilds achievements can rest easy, as it sounds like Capcom’s upcoming games will be available physically. Capcom says it doesn’t plan to stop selling physical games, despite the increasing popularity of digital libraries.Capcom’s Xbox games should still be available physically in the foreseeable futureDuring a recent shareholder meeting, Capcom was asked about its outlook on physical games now that digital purchases are overtaking physical media. By the sounds of it, the company is still looking to keep selling physical copies of its games. “Given that a significant number of end users demand physical games we currently do not expect to eliminate physical products,” Capcom says. It’s worth noting that it’s not entirely clear how Capcom decides which games get a physical release. It’s likely that games from flagship franchises will get a physical version. Last week, Capcom launched Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, an action-strategy game we really enjoyed in our first impressions, which is only available digitally on Xbox, PlayStation, and Steam. Alternatively, Dragon’s Dogma 2, which launched in March, is available physically and would be considered a flagship title for the company. At a time when reports suggest that companies like Microsoft have shut down departments focused on physical Xbox games, it’s refreshing to see Capcom continue to support the market.
