All Concord game modes explained

What are the Concord game modes? Firewalk Studios has drawn from several classic shooters when compiling Concord’s playlists — hello Team Deathmatch, our old friend. While its beta offerings haven’t pushed the boat out on the originality front, that’s not to say the devs don’t have anything spicy planned post-launch.

As you’ll see below, we’ve compiled the complete list of Concord game modes that are either currently available in, or confirmed for, the FPS game. Though only four modes were available during its beta, Sony previously let slip two more that you can jump into when the Concord release date finally rolls around.

The six Concord game modes are:

  • Area Control
  • Cargo Run
  • Clash Point
  • Signal Hunt
  • Takedown
  • Trophy Hunt

Area Control

Area Control is a classic Domination-style mode, featuring three zones that players must control to score points. Though we only have the PlayStation listing to go on when it comes to details for now, Area Control wasn’t available in the beta. We expect there to be some sort of customary bonus to be included should you gain control of all the zones.

Cargo Run

Cargo Run is a round-based, no-respawn mode that requires teams to retrieve a valuable Blue Buddy cargo package located in the center of the map, before setting it to extract at one of the two zones. The extraction zone can be contested after the cargo’s been set, offering both teams a chance to win by flipping control of it.

Clash Point

Clash Point is a round-based, no-respawn mode, with one zone in the middle of the map that unlocks shortly after the round begins. As with Cargo Run, you can win a round either by securing the objective or killing the rival crew.

Signal Hunt

Having been spotted on Concord’s PlayStation Store listing back in June, Signal Hunt was sneakily removed from the live version. However, what we do know is that it’s going to be A King of the Hill-style mode. Two teams battle for control over a central zone, the team that holds the objective for the longest time wins. There’s also a good chance that Signal Hunt will materialize with a different name, based on how some of the other modes from the store listing have been tweaked. For example, Area Control used to be called ‘Zone Control.’

Takedown

Takedown is a classic, no-nonsense Team Deathmatch mode where each squad earns points for every kill they land against the opposition. In the beta, the score capped out at 30 kills. If it stays as is, Takedown will be the perfect mode to rack up XP if you’re strapped for time.

Trophy Hunt

Trophy Hunt is similar to Takedown, except points are procured via bounty cards dropped by fallen enemies. Players can stop the opposition from earning points by collecting their teammate’s trophy. In the beta, the score capped out at 30 bounty cards. This may be the same cutoff as Takedown, but matches typically last much longer thanks to the denial mechanic.
