We don’t have too long to wait until we can begin the scoundrel life with the Star Wars Outlaws achievements, and naturally, many of us are wondering just how big Ubisoft’s upcoming open-world Xbox game is. When recently discussing Star Wars Outlaws’ planet sizes, Massive Entertainment confirmed that some of the planets can be crossed in just “four or five minutes nonstop.”You can speed across some of Star Wars Outlaws’ planets in just five minutesSet between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, Star Wars Outlaws sends us on a galaxy-exploring adventure with thief Kay Vess, her dog-like companion Nix, and commando droid ND-5. Similar to many other Ubisoft games, Outlaws is an open-world game, offering us a chance to explore five moons and worlds: Tatooine, Toshara, Akiva, Kijimi, and Cantonica. Ubisoft has previously said that Star Wars Outlaws isn’t a “300-hour epic unfinishable RPG” — we’re looking at you, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla — and now we have a slightly clearer picture of its size. When speaking with IGN, creative director Julian Gerighty revealed that “Toshara is very close in size to Akiva and Tatooine; I think Tatooine may be a little bit larger.” Gerighty didn’t mention Kijimi and Cantonica, however, so it’s unclear if they’re larger or smaller than the other three.”We don’t want things to be just big for big sake. We need it to be contained, always fun, always proposing different activities,” Gerighty said. “So the traversal of the whole thing had to feel like a journey, a commitment when you get on your speeder and you want it to go from one end to the next.”Elsewhere in the interview, Gerighty revealed that speeder traversal was a focus for the team when designing the planets. “When we started thinking about how big we should make them, it was less about how big, but more about how long, in terms of traversal with the speeder, it would be.”When speaking about traversing Toshara (a moon similar in size to two or three zones in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey) on a speeder bike, Gerighty revealed that it takes “Four or five minutes nonstop, which doesn’t sound like a lot, but once you’re committed it’s a fairly large amount, and you are always going to be distracted.” With Toshara being similar in size to Akiva and Tatooine, we should likely expect it to take a similar amount of time when crossing those too.
