Capcom confirms a new Resident Evil game is on the way

If you loved your time hunting down the Resident Evil 7: Biohazard achievements or are drumming your fingers waiting for the next Resident Evil game after the excellent Resident Evil Village, then you’re in luck: Resident Evil 7 director Koshi Nakanishi has confirmed that a new Resident Evil game is on the way.Resident Evil 9 is now in the worksCapcom Next gave us an update on several of its upcoming games, such as Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess and Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, and it was right near the end that Nakanishi made a brief announcement about the future of the Resident Evil series. “We’re making a new Resident Evil,” Nakanishi said. “It was really difficult to figure out what to do after 7. But I found it, and to be honest it feels substantial. I can’t share any details just yet, but I hope you’re excited for the day I can.” The Resident Evil team confirmed the news again with the image above, saying, “Breaking news from Capcom NEXT – Summer 2024! Director Koshi Nakanishi reveals that a new Resident Evil is in development.”The most recent Resident Evil we’ve had on Xbox was the excellent Resident Evil 4 remake, and before that, Resident Evil Village, which was set just a few years after Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, but it was only earlier this year we heard reports suggesting Resident Evil 9 and four other Resi games were in development at Capcom.Capcom Next also brought us the news of an Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster Xbox Series X|S release date, so there’s even more to look forward to with Capcom’s excellent remaster skills.
