Assassin’s Creed has been around now for more than a decade, and in that time there have 13 mainline entries into the series, not counting spin-off titles for handheld devices.More than half of those 13 games were released on the PS3, which means there’s plenty of games that could do with a refresh. Which at least seems to be part of the reason why Ubisoft’s chief executive officer Yves Guillemot confirmed that there a remakes of older Assassin’s Creed titles in the works. In an internal interview Ubisoft conducted with its own CEO, in response to a question about what players can look forward to with the Assassin’s Creed series, Guillemot said “Firstly, players can be excited about some remakes,” before going on to say that Ubisoft will do its best to keep the experience of playing an Assassin’s Creed game varied, and not the same thing each time.“Which will allow us to revisit some of the games we’ve created in the past and modernize them; there are worlds in some of our older Assassin’s Creed games that are still extremely rich.Secondly, to answer your question, there will be plenty of experience variety. The goal is to have Assassin’s Creed games come out more regularly, but not for it to be the same experience every year. There are a lot of good things to come, including Assassin’s Creed Hexe, which we’ve announced, which is going to be a very different game from Assassin’s Creed Shadows. We’re going to surprise people, I think.”The next Assassin’s Creed title on deck is Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which is due to arrive this November and will finally bring the series to feudal Japan.Shadows will be the first game in Ubisoft’s big, Assassin’s Creed Infinity endeavor. It could set the tone for Ubisoft’s biggest play in years, so it’ll be interesting to see how it pans out.Considering that, having multiple remakes of older games that fans already love seems like a good way to keep the series in players good graces – especially if Assassin’s Creed Infinity doesn’t land the way Ubisoft is hoping it will.Source – [Ubisoft]
