Speaking during an interview with Famitsu magazine, Bokeh Game Studio‘s Keiichiro Toyama has described the company’s debut project, Slitterhead, as something of a modern action take on the Siren franchis – which Toyama-san himself helped create. One of the central mechanics in Slitterhead is to possess the bodies of humans as an entity known as Hyoki, who is battling against brain-devouring parasites — the game’s titular Slitterheads. Once possessed, you can use the blood of your hosts to forge weapons to fight against enemies, moving to a different body once you current host has sustained major damage. When asked about the inspiration behind this feature, Toyama-san, who was the creator of Silent Hill when he worked at Team Silent in the late 1990s, said that Slitterhead’s “fundamental concept is to reinterpret Siren as a modern action game.” Related Content — Upcoming PS5 Games 2024: The Best PS5 Games Coming Soon If you’re wondering why Siren has anything to do with this, the series featured a mechanic known as Sightjacking, where the player could effectively possess an enemy’s sight and vision to help them scout the environment for key items and dangers. As such, Slitterhead looks to extend the concept of Siren’s key mechanic, and noted that players will be able to get an occasional glimpse of a characters’ point of view “as a form of fan service” for Siren players.Slitterhead is pencilled in for a November 8, 2024 release on PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.[Source – Famitsu via Automaton]
