Dead by Daylight is packed full of original characters, but it’s also known to cross over with other properties. This started exclusively with horror icons like Nightmare on Elm Street series’ Freddy Krueger and Pyramid Head from Silent Hill, but it’s expanded into less expected properties like Dungeons & Dragons, the real life actor Nicolas Cage, and now Tomb Raider superstar Lara Croft.
In the lore of Dead by Daylight, both Killers and Survivors are pulled into a dark realm ruled over by the extraplanar god known as the Entity. It seems like Lara’s various adventures and expeditions was enough to capture the Entity’s attention and see her claimed by the supernatural Fog. Lara Croft will arrive alone, with no map or associated Killer, similar to her colleague Alan Wake.
Like other Survivors, Lara comes with three perks that affect her gameplay.
Finesse
This perk activates while you are healthy. Your fast vaults are 20% faster. This perk goes on cooldown for 40/35/30 seconds after performing a fast vault.
Hardened
After you unlock a chest and cleanse or bless a totem, this perk activates. Anytime you would scream, reveal the Killer’s aura for 3/4/5 seconds instead.
Specialist
Each time you open or rummage through a chest, gain 1 token, up to 3/3/3. When you do a great skill check on a generator, consume all tokens. Then for each token consumed, reduce the maximum required generator progress by 2/3/4.
Over the years, Dead by Daylight has moved away from solely using horror characters, and introduced more action- or thriller-oriented characters as well. Lara Croft is a popular choice for such crossovers; she appears in many other games, including Call of Duty, Fortnite, Fall Guys, Brawlhalla, and Magic: The Gathering.
The next licensed tie-in after Lara Croft will likely be the Castlevania crossover, announced earlier this year. Expect more info on the Castlevania chapter later this summer.
