We have a heartwarming story to kick-start your Tuesday before you continue hunting down the State of Decay 2 achievements: the State of Decay 2 devs added a player’s late dad to the game as a survivor, and his child has just found him. We think State of Decay 2 is one of the best zombie games on Xbox, and now we have yet another reason to love this game.State of Decay 2 finds late father in-game, who has been immortalized by Undead LabsThree years after their father’s passing, State of Decay 2 player EmbarrassedBudget859 shared on Reddit that they’ve finally found their dad in-game as a survivor. The player says they’re “obsessed with this game,” and after losing their dad, they reached out to Undead Labs to ask if the developers could “put him in the game.” Expecting the team to only add their dad’s name to the random pool of survivors, EmbarrassedBudget859 has been searching for their father since and has now finally come across him in State of Decay 2. “Three years later and I found him,” EmbarrassedBudget859 says. “Not just his name, but his traits; everything about him. This will always be my forever community.”If you’re unfamiliar with State of Decay 2’s survivors, they’re pre-generated NPCs who you come across when playing the game. There are countless survivors, all of whom are randomly selected by the game, so you never know who you’ll meet on your zombie-surviving adventure. As Undead Labs says on X, the odds of coming across a particular survivor are “astronomically low,” which is why it’s taken so long for EmbarrassedBudget859 to find their father. If you fancy checking out State of Decay 2 for yourself, it’s available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and via Xbox Game Pass — check out everything we know about State of Decay 3 for all the details on the upcoming sequel.
