Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Co-Director Says Trilogy Ending Will Surpass The Original PSOne Game

Motomu Toriyama, the co-director on Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, has revealed during an appearance at the Indonesia Anime Con that he hopes to have the ending of the trilogy – unofficially called Final Fantasy Remake Part 3 – to surpass that of the original 1997 version of the game.Joined by battle director Teruki Endo, Toriyama-san took part in a Q&A where the were asked “is there anything you couldn’t do in Remake and Rebirth that you hope you will be able to achieve in the third part?” After echoing previous statements that they want to give players more freedom in regards to combat, Toriyama added:We would like to bring you a moving and impressive ending which will answer all the mysteries in Rebirth and exceeds the original game.Related Content — Upcoming PS5 Games 2024: The Best PS5 Games Coming Soon Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 is currently in the early stages of production, and it is believed the game will ship at some point in 2027 taking into account the gap between the first two games.Back in March, co-director Naoki Hamaguchi revealed that ‘key features‘ for the third chapter in the Final Fantasy VII Remake project were coming together, although wasn’t able to elaborate any further.
