What is Glory used for in Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance? Glory is a returning currency from the original game, but new SMT 5 players might be confused when they spot it early on. Whether from finding Mimans for Gustave, breaking Treasure Boxes, or finding Amalgams, it’s not completely clear what it’s used for until slightly later in the game.

It turns out, like many RPG games, Glory is for a specific type of skill. However, it’s easy to be daunted when thinking about how to invest what you’ve built up. Like our Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance review points out, the game is filled with complex systems that make you feel clever once you master them. So, let’s get into exactly what this special currency in SMT 5: Vengeance is for and how you should use it.

The option to spend Glory & learn Miracles in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance

What is Glory used for in SMT 5: Vengeance?

In Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance, you use Glory to spend on Miracles: special abilities for your Nahobino that boost their combat and demon-summoning capabilities. You gain access to this when you meet Sophia in the World of Shadows automatically throughout the story.

Found via the ‘Apothesis’ menu in the World of Shadows, there are four types of Miracles skills you can unlock:

  • Supremacy: Expanding the ways you fill the Magatsuhi Gauge for special attacks.
  • Doctrine: Enhancing demon fusion & how you can use Essences.
  • Awakening: Quality of life improvements like skills & demon slots.
  • Cosmic: Increases the Nahobino’s affinity with different skills.

You unlock more Miracles by exploring Da’at in SMT 5: Vengeance and defeating Abscesses. These enemies are big red mini-bosses scattered across the netherworld’s regions. You’ll get a new set of skills available with every Abscess you defeat.

However, even after you take down a couple of them, the selection of Miracles you’ll have to choose from can already be tough to decide on. With that, we’re next going into the best early Miracles in the game you should unlock first.

Best Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance Miracles

Fell Swoop

There are various Miracles you can use to increase the Magatsuhi Gauge in SMT 5: Vengeance, but Fell Swoop is by far one of the best you can unlock early given how often it’s put to use.

Increasing your Magatsuhi every time an enemy weakness is exploited, you’ll automatically be more able to pull off these special skills just by playing the game properly. Whether grinding or simply making you more ready for boss battles, this is a definite one for your arsenal.

The Deathly Aura l Miracle in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance

Deathly Aura I

Even if you’ve gotten used to the art of negotiating with demons to recruit them in the SMT 5 games, one wrong dialogue choice when trying to manipulate a plethora of personalities can lead to failure and frustration.

This is where Deathly Aura l can save you a lot of bother — occasionally nearly defeating them in battle, leaving them to beg for their lives with the option to join you right away. It’s not always a guarantee Deathly Aura will kick in, but if you’re trying to quickly stock up on demons early or farm more for fusion, the times it does will be a relief in taking out the guesswork.

The Divine Amalgamation Miracle in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance

Divine Amalgamation

Allowing your Nahobino to swap resistances by using different Essences in Essence Fusion, Divine Amalgamation is not just one of the best SMT 5: Vengeance Miracles to learn early on, but in the whole game too.

As you take on a plethora of bosses with varied attacks, including the new Dark-wielding Qadištu, utilizing Divine Amalgamation to use different Essences will be the key to you getting the edge in the tougher battles.

The Divine Garrison Miracle in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance

Divine Garrison I, II & III

Being three skills with the same purpose, Divine Garrison is easily one of the best Miracles since it helps solve one key problem: your stock of demons quickly filling up.

This nuisance of a situation also rears its annoying head when you forget how many demons you’re carrying, try to recruit a new one, and it disappears since your team is full. Unfortunately, you can’t switch them out unless it’s done manually.

With a total demon stock increase of four across the three Miracles, the Divine Garrison skills give you a lot more breathing room before you have to spend time making space via fusion or simply throwing them out.

The Electric Mastery I Miracle in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance

Electric Mastery

The Cosmos menu offers a Miracle which increases the Nahobino’s proficiency with all varieties of skills. Early on in SMT 5: Vengeance, however, Electric Mastery is the ideal choice of these to learn first.

Yes, your Nahobino build can be later customized with other elemental attacks to buff thanks to the Essences system. At this stage in the game though, since Zio is the elemental attack the Nahobino knows naturally before you can grab more Essences, this will be one of your most powerful Magic attacks from the get-go. With that, you’ll want to keep Zio as powerful as it can be to better deal with the early bosses when physical attacks aren’t enough.
