Nowadays, the world of gaming is full of simulators that put you in the shoes of the most disparate professions. However, did you know that you could also become a coroner? In fact, this is precisely the purpose of Autopsy Simulator, the game we are talking about in this review.
This Autopsy Simulator review, therefore, will try to give you a general idea of what the game is, so that you can understand whether or not it is right for you. Obviously, we would like to say that it is absolutely not a game for the weak of stomach, so consider this aspect before throwing yourself headlong into this adventure.
What Does a Coroner Do?
In Autopsy Simulator, you will have the opportunity to take on the role of a medical examiner. The plot is a bit cryptic and is left to the player’s interpretation, but we can tell you that it all begins with the death of the protagonist’s wife. From then on, the medical examiner we represent will have serious psychological problems, so much so that he will have to take drugs to stay clear.
Ultimately, therefore, what players will be asked to do during the game is exactly what a medical examiner does. So be ready to have to dissect bodies, take fluids, write reports and do everything that is necessary to understand why a particular person died (homicide, suicide, accident, etc.).
Narrative Experience
Autopsy Simulator is a very narrative game. Players are not given the opportunity to experiment and make mistakes during their adventure. In fact, while we are engaged in our investigations, we will always be guided step-by-step on what to do. While this may seem like a good thing on the one hand, it is not on the other.
It is true that we take on the role of a forensic doctor; therefore, we must know what we must do in order to find the causes of a person’s death and we should not proceed with attempts, but it is also true that a bit more non-linearity would certainly not have spoiled.
Wouldn’t it have been real? It’s not really like that. Ultimately, our character is deeply marked by psychological problems that prevent him from being lucid, so the non-linearity of the game could have been explained in this way, for example. However, we would like to point out that this does not represent a disabling problem that fails to make the player identify with the game.
Deep Immersion
And it is precisely about the level of involvement that we want to talk to you in this paragraph of our Autopsy Simulator review. As you well know, in any game, but perhaps even more so in games like this, the immersion factor is very important. There’s nothing worse than a game that fails to captivate you and bores you, right?
Here you are. This is certainly not the case with Autopsy Simulator. The developers have done an excellent job from this point of view and managed to create an experience that manages to involve players for its entire duration. This is also due to the way in which they managed to recreate in a very masterful way the work of the medical examiner, complete with a gloomy atmosphere.
Autopsy Simulator Review – 8/10
In a world where there are simulators for everything (sometimes of questionable quality), Autopsy Simulator is certainly a breath of fresh air (and not stench, given the topics covered). So, if your dream has always been to be able to take on the role of a medical examiner and immerse yourself in his everyday life, Autopsy Simulator is definitely the game for you.
However, as we said at the beginning, this is not a game for everyone. The developers have not been merciful from this point of view. Don’t expect censorship of any kind, you will be able to see practically everything without any kind of filter. For this reason, if you don’t have a strong stomach, perhaps this is not the game for you.
