Chinese esports organisation JingDong Gaming (JDG) has signed a partnership with British automobile manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover.
The partnership was announced on social media platform Weibo through a commercial post featuring Range Rover’s SUV vehicle Defender. Jaguar Land Rover has become the exclusive automobile partner of the esports team. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
JDG is the esports branch of the Chinese company Jing Dong, one of the country’s biggest e-commerce platforms. The holding group, JD.com Inc., also owns several other branches, which include JD Health, JD Technology and JD Pharmacy, among others.
Earlier this year, the team announced a sponsorship deal with German supplement brand Doppelherz. The organisation also counts on partners such as Intel, ASUS ROG, BOE Technology Group, streaming platform Huya, condom brand Durex, electric motor brand NIU and gaming chair brand AutoFull.
Last year, the Chinese team also announced German airline Deutsche Lufthansa AG as its exclusive airline partner, becoming the first Chinese team to be sponsored by an international airline brand.
Esports Insider has reached out to JDG for more insights on the Jaguar Land Rover deal.
JDG is mainly known for its League of Legends team competing in the Chinese League of Legends Pro League (LPL). The organisation won the 2023 Mid-Season Invitational in London and finished in the top four at last year’s League of Legends World Championship.
This season JDG placed third in the latest LPL 2024 Spring Split, falling just short of a consecutive international appearance at the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational (MSI).
Yesterday, JDG also announced its entry into the KPL, the professional competition for the mobile game Honor of Kings after purchasing Vici Gaming‘s division. With this additional title, JDG now has a competitive presence across League of Legends, Honor of Kings, PUBG Mobile and VALORANT.
