Multinational esports organisation Team Liquid has announced a strategic partnership with independent EA FC academy Team Gullit for the rest of the EA FC 2024 esports season.
The two organisations, which are founded in the Netherlands, will play under a shared banner in EA FC at the Esports World Cup and other events in 2024.
The joint team will debut at Esports World Cup’s EA FC event, set to take place later this year. It has been confirmed that the EA FC tournament will be separate from the FC Pro World Championship ecosystem.
Team Liquid was recently announced as one of the 30 teams to join the Esports World Cup Club Support Program. As a result, it will receive financial capital to help expand the organisation into titles featured in the EWC.
Team Liquid previously competed in FIFA esports back in 2017 and 2018 when the brand was represented by Lasse ‘Kongen’ Bækkelund. Whilst Team Liquid is not a major name in EA FC, the brand is well-established in other esports titles such as CS2, Dota 2, fighting games and more. Founded in 2000, the brand has expanded globally with teams in Europe, North and South America and Asia.
Team Gullit are currently the reigning World Champions after Manuel ‘Manuel’ Bachoore won at the FIFAe World Cup under the Team Gullit banner. The team, which prides itself on nurturing talent as the first independent EA FC academy, currently has seven players on its active roster as well as a coach.
Corné Dubelaar, founder of Team Gullit, commented: “We are thrilled to have teamed up with Team Liquid, who we consider the absolute best within esports.
“Our focus on development has led us to become the EA FC World Champion. However, with an ever-changing landscape, we need to stay on top. We are sure that Team Liquid can help us with that, with years of experience across multiple esports titles, and their infrastructure.”
