Lost (Money) In Translation? WuWa Japanese Version Stirs Chaos Due To Incorrect Translation!

It’s no secret that the latest release of Wuthering Waves hasn’t been smooth sailing. In fact, it’s been quite a stormy ride. A couple of days ago, players complained that the music wasn’t playing in the game. And then there were the messed-up dialogue boxes and lip-syncing, bad visual textures and the game freezing after a long period of being idle.

This time, it’s the incorrect translation of Jiyan’s gacha weapon in WuWa Japanese version that’s causing a row. They botched the translation of the 5-Star Broadsword Verdant Summit, which is Jiyan’s signature weapon currently headlining the limited gacha banner. The weapon’s effect, Swordsworn, was supposed to be as follows:

Increases the DMG Bonus of all Resonance Attributes by 12%. Every time Intro Skill or Resonance Liberation is cast, increases Heavy Attack DMG Bonus by 24%, stacking up to 2 times. This effect lasts for 14s.

However, in the Japanese WuWa version, the incorrect translation called ‘Resonance Liberation’ ‘Resonance Skill.’ This mix-up caused a lot of confusion. It made the weapon look ideal for a character named Calcharo. And hence, players spent their Astrite on this banner without realizing they were misled.

This Is How WuWa Japanese Version Compensated For The Incorrect Translation

Yesterday, the devs woke up to the chaos they’d caused and quickly rolled out an update to fix the text. They apologized for the mistake and handed out a ‘small’ compensation of 160 Astrite. It’s basically enough for a single pull. And that again upset many players.

Considering the odds of gacha games, one pull isn’t much. Especially for those who spent money on the mistranslated banner. Some players are now demanding a refund instead of the small compensation. Hopefully, the devs learn from this incorrect translation blunder in the Japanese version of WuWa and step up their (or rather ‘the’) game.
