The partnership was formalised by GEF CEO, Paul J. Foster and Asociación Deportiva Peruana de Esports (ADPES) President, Diego Mohme in the city of Lima. Many other representatives from Lima appeared at the ceremony, including Matsuda Matayoshi, the Executive President of the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ).

As part of the deal, Lima is confirmed to organise the annual stages of GEF’s pro-series – Global Esports Tour (GET) – from 2024 through 2028. The very first GET that will take place in Peru will happen this November where teams from around the world will compete on Dota 2.

The last Global Esports Games was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in December 2023.

The GEF was founded in 2019 and since then sought to create global partnerships and work with Member Federations. In June 2022 the GEF signed a 10-year partnership with the West Midlands, an administrative district in the UK, with the aim of making the region a ‘global esports hub’. The organisation aims to continue striking these partnership to expand its footprint around the world.

Diego Mohme, President of Asociación Deportiva Peruana de Esports, spoke on the deal: “We are honoured to organise these global events for millions of esports athletes and fans worldwide. Peru has proven itself as a cultivator of talent in the esports community.

“The opportunity to host GEF’s flagship Global Esports Games 2025 in our capital Lima and the annual stages of the Global Esports Tour, will further strengthen our capacity as an esports community.”
