The Dark Ages rumored for Xbox Games Showcase reveal

It appears that the next Doom game could be a fairly different experience from the demon-slaying adventures we enjoyed when collecting the Doom: Eternal achievements. The game is reportedly “medieval-inspired,” titled Doom: The Dark Ages, and potentially not be finding a spot on our list of upcoming Xbox exclusive games — Doom: The Dark Ages is said to be a multiplatform game, launching on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. Doom: The Dark Ages reportedly launching on PlayStationAs first reported by Insider Gaming, Doom: The Dark Ages has been in development for “at least four years” and could be revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase next month. Leaked Microsoft plans during the Activision Blizzard acquisition suggested that Bethesda was working on a new Doom entry codenamed Doom Year Zero, potentially meaning this could be a prequel for the franchise — Insider Gaming says it’s set in a “medieval-inspired doom world.”Following Insider Gaming’s report, industry insider NateTheHate backed up the claim on X, adding that Doom: The Dark Ages will be revealed as a multiplatform game, as Microsoft reportedly plans to launch it on PlayStation alongside Xbox and PC.Windows Central’s Jez Corden has also corroborated the reports. Corden has reportedly also heard that Doom: The Dark Ages will be revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase and is slated to launch on PlayStation, “potentially day and date.”Back in February, Microsoft announced that four Xbox exclusives would launch on PlayStation and Nintendo. Reports earlier this month suggested that Microsoft is eyeing up more games to launch on other platforms, and it looks like we could see some announcements during the Xbox Showcase next month.
