As the 21st century drew to a close, humanity left Earth behind. They took to the stars and came upon Avesta – a lush, habitable home for humanity. This is SEED, a speculative sci-fi game that melds elements of life simulation games, city builders, and MMOs, to create a truly original gameplay experience. Sign-ups for SEED free play sessions are live now.
The settlers of Avesta will need to create homes and businesses for their characters, called Seedlings, which in turn will eventually grow into fully functioning cities. Every interconnected system is fully simulated, using generative AI, allowing players complete freedom to create whatever society they deem fit. You’ll start out on the Avesta Campus, and you’ll need to get out into the world and work together with your fellow Cultivators to create your own version of a functioning society.
As a Cultivator, your job will be to direct your Seedling(s) in their daily lives, contributing to society however you see fit. Each Seedling will have randomly generated traits that make them suited to certain roles, but you’ll be able to shape their path as they find their place in society. Once a society is established, your Seedlings can pursue a career or even aspire to lead it in government.
Every society needs leaders, and your Seedling can put themselves forward for the role of president, or, if you don’t fancy that much responsibility, you can vote for another player’s Seedling. The functioning of society will be determined by the collective effort of every Cultivator’s Seedling working together.
As society develops, Seedlings will need to establish public services, industry, and economy. What role you play in this process is up to you – will your Seedling be an essential worker, manager, or even a leader? If none of these roles appeal to you, you can also choose to reject the expectations of society and go your own way. Of course, this may affect the overall running of society and if it’s your wish to create chaos and sow discord, you can do this too.
While the game is still in development, you can get involved now with play sessions run by developers at Klang Games. These play sessions are completely free and will allow you to get a feel for this unique title. Those who have previously played SEED will be pleased to learn that the latest build has a number of new features and improvements that make the game more dynamic and immersive than ever before.
Cultivators can now exercise direct control of their Seedlings, guiding them through the map and choosing how and when they interact with other characters and objects. Left-click on your Seedling (or any object in the world) and you’ll enter a detailed view that allows you to learn about skills, relationships, attributes, and more. If you’re cultivating multiple Seedlings, you can switch between them with ease.
Your Seedling’s health is now a more pressing concern, with the introduction of new ailments and injuries. Your Seedlings can suffer burns, incisions, nerve damage, scar tissue, and more, all of which will impact their ability to be productive members of society. These ailments can lead to the deterioration of your Seedling’s mental health and even death. Whether you’re motivated by compassion or efficiency, you’ll need to tend to your Seedling’s health before they enter a health crisis.
Other new features include security systems for businesses, contracts, and a pollen shop, selling useful in-game items in exchange for materials.
