As part of PSU’s recent hands-on with The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Road, we were about to join in with a group interview with Rich Lambert, so first we’d like to extend our thanks to the folks at ZeniMax Online Studios for the opportunity! This latest expansion for the MMOPRG features a wealth of content, with its main feature being the new scribing system, which allows you to customise a set of skills with new traits and colour effects to make them more personal, thus allowing players to maintain a sense of identity with their abilities. There were many great questions asked by different outlets, but here are the few we were able to ask during the event. Will any grimoires be locked behind trials? For folk who are new to ESO or haven’t read our preview, Grimoires are part of the new scribing ability, this allows you to make new custom abilities and spells. Grimoires are the base of the ability so things such as shield toss, or vault. There are tons of them at the launch of the new chapter. Are they locked behind trials? No, you can get scripts that can drop in there but we tried to make sure that the sourcing felt fair kind of across the board so there’s multiple avenues you can get them some are from completing Scribing quests Some are actually or most are actually on a vendor that you unlock after completing some of the Scribing quests some drop in the world. With the 10th anniversary, do you ever plan to support cross-platform play with consoles?*slight chuckle after hearing the question* Yeah, that comes up a lot and I don’t mean to laugh, like, I get that question a lot and we hear, everybody obviously, everybody wants crossplay we have been looking at it over the years. The one thing that I would like to remind people of is we started building this game in 2007 there are lots of things that we decided in the way back days that don’t necessarily play nice with cross-play but it’s definitely something that were interested.Do you plan to improve and extend Tales of Tribute with the new expansion? There may be a deck that comes along with it. I think we’ve been pretty good at updating all of our systems that we’ve implemented over the years but yeah, there might be a new card deck coming along with the new expansion.Do you plan to add any special effects for scribing spells to future holiday events? Such as Easter eggs or perhaps snow-based effects for the holidays.Um, I mean we definitely have this concept now of holiday fixtures you’ve seen that if you played, you know recently where parts of the world will start to change based on the count of the holiday that’s running so I think we’ll do a lot more of that as we continue to go.I hope folk enjoyed our hands-on preview write up and the Q&A with Lambert, and thanks again to Zenimax Online for giving us this chance at playing Gold Road, which launches on June 18 for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.
