The Silent Hill 2 Remake developed by Bloober Team in collaboration with Konami has officially been rated by the ESRB, which could mean the game’s release date will be revealed soon. It’s been given an “M for Mature” rating, something that’s not exactly a shock since that was also the original game’s rating. The description for the game from the ESRB reads “This is a horror adventure game in which players assume the role of a man returning to a mysterious town while being tormented by his past. From a third-person perspective, players explore the town of Silent Hill, interact with characters, and battle humans and creatures (e.g., Pyramid Head, mannequins, monsters).”It also goes on to describe the combat and cutscenes as depicting “violence and/or blood and gore: characters impaled; a character suffocated to death with a pillow; enemies with body parts sewn together.”The last we heard about when this remake would be out, we got a release window for late 2024. The news of this rating doesn’t push that window up at all, but it does indicate that Bloober Team and Konami are dotting their ‘i”s and crossing their ‘t”s to prepare for the release.Paired with the coming season of massive gaming news now only two months away, we could be very close to finding out what the actual release date is.This remake has a lot of expectations on its shoulders – Silent Hill 2 is an iconic game, one that has gone on to inspire many titles, horror or not, that players love today.Silent Hill 2 is the kind of game that made others possible, so an attempt at remaking the game that became the foundation for countless others is a lot of pressure even before you add how influential it was to individual players, and the impact it had on those people that are your regular fans.Hopefully Bloober Team is up to the task, and we’ll soon know when to mark our calendars.Source – [ESRB via Reddit]
