The Nord CE branch is a popular one in the OnePlus family, but as the budget-conscious options, every generation is focused on specific upgrades. The CE3 brought a bigger, better display, a bigger, faster battery and a larger sensor in the main camera, plus a faster chipset. That chipset was a fairly old Snapdragon 782G (6nm), though.

The main upgrade that the OnePlus Nord CE4 brings is the chipset – the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. This chip features a massively improved GPU compared to the Gen 2 chip and should offer close to double the performance of the old 782G GPU. As it is fabbed on a more modern 4nm node, it is more efficient too (plus the gains from the new CPU cores).

The chipset is paired with 8GB of RAM (LPDDR4X), but there’s no 12GB option this time. The storage is 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1, which is expandable via the microSD slot (with cards up to 1TB). The phone runs the latest OxygenOS 14 out of the box and it offers an extra 8GB of virtual RAM as a feature.

We mentioned increased efficiency, the Nord CE4 also brings a larger battery for good measure – it ties the 12R for the largest capacity on a OnePlus phone at 5,500mAh and borrows its 100W SuperVOOC charging. The old CE3 needed 31 minutes for a 1-100% charge, the CE4 can do it in 29 minutes (despite having to charge 500mAh more). The Battery Health Engine will stretch out battery life to 4 years of charging cycles. The 100W SuperVOOC charger is included in the box.

One of the upgrades on the CE3 we mentioned was the 50MP main camera with a fairly large 1/1.56” IMX890 sensor (up from the 64MP 1/1.97” sensor on the CE2). The new model switches to a different Sony sensor, the LYT-600, which also has 50MP resolution but is smaller at 1/1.95”. It still has OIS, though. As for the 8MP ultra wide module, that still uses the IMX355 sensor.

OnePlus is promising that new image processing algorithms will improve image quality for all cameras, including the 16MP selfie module. The phone also comes with Portrait Mode 2.0. Video recording remains capped at 4K at 30fps with a 60fps option at 1080p (and even a 120fps slow-mo mode).

As mentioned previously, the OnePlus Nord CE4 runs OxygenOS 14 out of the box (Android 14). It will receive two major OS updates and a total of three years of security patches. That’s the same deal that the CE3 got.

The phone features a 6.7” OLED display similar to its predecessor. It has an FHD+ resolution with a slightly taller than 20:9 aspect ratio. The display runs at 120Hz and renders 10-bit colors with HDR10+ and Amazon Prime Video HDR support.

The phone has internal cushioning and has been tested to survive drops of 1.5m (5ft) onto marble. For the first time, the CE model has an official dust and water resistance rating – it’s only IP54, but it’s better than nothing. And the display can detect touches even when it’s wet, that’s the Aqua Touch feature from the OnePlus 12 series.

The CE4 is available in two colorways – Dark Chrome (with a glossy gray metal-like finish) and Celadon Marble (a jade green with a marble-like texture).

Sales of the Nord CE4 will begin on April 4. The base 8/128GB model is priced ₹25,000 ($300/€280), while the 8/256GB one is ₹27,000. On launch day you will get a free pair of OnePlus Nord Buds 2r (valued at ₹2,200). Additionally, you can score and exchange bonus of up to ₹2,500.

After April 4th, you will be able to get an instant bank discount up to ₹1,500 and the same exchange bonus of up to ₹2,500. The phone is available through OnePlus.in, the OnePlus Store app, the OnePlus Experience store as well as select online and offline retailers.
