If hanging with cartoon characters for the Disney Dreamlight Valley achievements isn’t your thing, the studio’s next game might be of interest, as Gameloft is now developing a Dungeons & Dragons action-RPG. Considering how popular Disney Dreamlight Valley is, this upcoming D&D RPG could potentially be a contender for our list of the best RPGs on Xbox.It looks like the game is still fairly early in development, as it doesn’t yet have a name or release window, but Wizards of the Coast and Gameloft have confirmed that it’ll be launching on PC and consoles. Set within the Forgotten Realms, the upcoming D&D game will offer life sim, survival, and co-op action-RPG gameplay. Being part of the D&D universe, we can expect to uncover heaps of lore as we embark on a “unique campaign of resilience, camaraderie, and danger at nearly every turn.”“We are honored to partner with Wizards of the Coast to deliver a completely new experience in the Dungeons & Dragons universe,” Gameloft Montreal executive producer Lee Kaburis said. “We are all big fans of D&D and are already hard at work bringing our concept to life, including growing our team, and we look forward to sharing more details in the future.”Wizards of the Coast greenlights D&D RPG from GameloftLast January, Bloomberg reported that Wizards of the Coast had canceled “at least” five video games, including Otherside’s Argos: Riders of the Storm and a AAA D&D title from Hidden Path. The report said that Wizards of the Coast was still “committed to using digital games,” but the company had “made some changes to our existing brands and those which show promise in expanding or engaging our audience in new ways.”In December, Wizards of the Coast confirmed its commitment to digital games when Payday developer Starbreeze announced that it’s working on a Dungeons & Dragons game. The project is being developed using Unreal Engine 5 and will feature “co-operative multiplayer, lifetime commitment through a games as a service-model, community engagement, and a larger-than-life experience.” It’s expected to release on “all major platforms” sometime in 2026.With this week’s D&D announcement from Gameloft, it seems fans of the franchise could be eating well in the coming years. If you’re looking for a D&D fix right now, though, we think free-to-play Neverwinter is one of the best MMOs on Xbox — if you have the time for such a meaty completion!
