Tecno introduced a multitude of mobile products at MWC 2024 in Barcelona – a Pova 6 Pro smartphone, a Windows handheld gaming console with XR glasses, several laptops and even a robot dog.

Now the hype around the products is quieting down, let’s talk about another major announcement from Tecno – the AI capabilities that HiOS devices will get soon. New phones will have smart features already appearing in other devices, like live translations and object erasing.

Tecno AI features

Siri, Bixby, Alexa, Cortana, and Celia are all names of assistants, some more intelligent than others. Tecno decided to go with Ella – its “all-round personal assistant”. It will be able to set meetings and provide news and other automated features like asking questions that can be googled, but more importantly, Ella will be able to generate images.

Call Translation and Social Media Translation should make content more accessible for Tecno users, and there will also be Video Subtitles. Tecno revealed photos could be enhanced using generative AI, and the engine will also be able to create portraits.

One interesting feature Tecno pointed out is the AI will adapt images to different regions – Southeast Asia, South Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe and America. Last summer, the company launched a smart feature that “intelligently” adapts facial lighting in photos; Tecno is obviously not playing favorites and is working to adapt to its presence in virtually all markets.

You can edit photos to remove strangers from the background, and phones will be able to make cutouts or stickers from an image. This is already a thing across many other platforms and mobile operating systems, so it’s good that Tecno is joining the fun. The phone’s gallery will also be able to search for photos with descriptions.

Tecno AI features

The company did not provide any specific details about when these features will hit phones, but we expect them as early as this summer.
