Here is a list of all FF7 Rebirth Summons. Learn who made it into the game and how you can get every single one.


Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is the second installment in the FF7 Remake Project and seems to be shaping up as Square Enix’s biggest release yet. It is one of the highest-rated games in the franchise’s history and a faithful reimagination of the PlayStation One Classic.

If you have just picked up Rebirth, you’re probably wondering which of the iconic summons have made it into the game and how you’ll obtain them. This is why we have fashioned a handy guide on who made it and how to unlock it.

All FF7 Rebirth Summons

There are 10 Summons in FF7 Rebirth, some of them are preorder bonuses or only available if you’ve played through the Demo or have an existing savefile.

Chocobo & Moogle Materia

The Chocobo & Moogle Materia gives the user a little stat bonus and has the Stampede Ultimate Attack. Can not be leveled.

How to get the Chocobo & Moogle Materia

This Materia is unlocked automatically once you finish Chapter 1. Once you’re back to playing Cloud, you’ll be able to equip it in the Materia menu.

Ifrit Materia

The classic Fire God has hung up his protagonist hat and returns as an Assist to Cloud and his Friends. He deals massive Fire Damage using standard attacks as well as his Hellfire Ultimate. Can not be leveled.

How to get the Ifrit Materia

You will unlock this Materia at the start of Chapter 2 once Red XIII joins the party, it’ll be equipped to his collar.

Shiva Materia

Returning from Oblivion, Shiva makes a glorious return as an Ice-themed combat assist that buffs the summoner’s stats significantly. She can also use her signature Diamond Dust attack as her Ultimate. Can not be leveled.

How to get the Shiva Materia

This Materia will be automatically equipped to Aerith once you enter Chapter 2 and regain control of the party.

Titan Materia

Titan also celebrates his remake debut and deals large amounts of non-elemental damage and can use his Earthen Fury Ultimate and later learn Boulder Hurl. He can be leveled by analyzing Titan Sanctuaries in the Grasslands.

How to get the Titan Materia

The reward for completing the “Summon Entity: Titan” mission in the Combat Simulator. You can make this fight significantly easier by analyzing the aforementioned Titan Sanctuaries in the Grasslands.

Phoenix Materia

The Phoenix also makes their FF7 Remake debut. It deals large amounts of Fire Damage and its ultimate Rebirth Flame deals massive damage while healing the party. At level 4 it can also learn Rerise and Arise to summon support in combat. It can be leveled by analyzing Phoenix Sanctuaries in the Jeunon Region.

How to get the Phoenix Materia

You obtain the Phoenix Materia by completing the “Summon Entity: Phoenix” Mission in the Combat Simulator which becomes available in Chapter 4. The fight can be made easier by analyzing Phoenix Sanctuaries beforehand.

Alexander Materia

Another debut is Alexander, the time-stopping tyrant FF9 fans are probably most familiar with. He deals massive amounts of non-elemental damage and can his Divine Judgement as an Ultimate Attack. Once you reach Chapter 9, you’ll be able to level him up to learn Grand Laser in the Corel Desert.

How to get the Alexander Materia

Alexander is unlocked by completing “Summon Entity: Alexander” in the Combat Simulator which becomes available after the start of Chapter 7.

Kujata Materia

The Kujata Materia summons the elemental god who can deal damage in either Fire, Ice, or Lightning variants. Its finisher is the Tri-Disaster and can be leveled up to learn Blazing-, Chilling- and Crackling Horn. To level it up, you need to find Kujata Sanctuaries in the Gongaga Region. You’ll only be able to find these after obtaining a Green Chocobo as part of the story.

How to get the Kujata Materia

Unlocked by completing the “Summon Entity: Kujata” mission in the Combat Simulator. It becomes available once you start Chapter 9.

Bahamut Arisen Materia

The iconic Bahamut also makes his glorious return to FF7 Rebirth deals massive amounts of non-elemental Damage and features his equally iconic Gigaflare attack. By finding Bahamut Arisen Sancuatires in the Cosmo Canyon Region, he’ll also learn about the Umbral Inferno attack.

How to get the Bahamut Arisen Materia

Once you reach Chapter 10, you’ll be able to tackle the “Summon Entity: Bahamut Arisen” fight in the Combat Simulator. The fight is made easier by analyzing Bahamut Risen Sanctuaries across the Cosmo Canyon Region.

Odin Materia

Odin also celebrates his FF7 Remake Debut in this installment, bringing non-elemental damage and his Zanetsuken ultimate skill. By finding Odin Sanctuaries around the Nible Region you’ll be able to level him up and learn Allfather’s Fury.

How to get the Odin Materia

His Materia is unlocked by completing the “Summon Entity: Odin” mission in the Combat Simulator which is available at the start of Chapter 11. The fight can be made easier by finding Odin Sanctuaries in the Nible Region, some require a Purple Chocobo to find.

Leviathan Materia

The Leviathan Materia is a reward for anyone who has played through Final Fantasy 7 Remake. The game will only check if you have an existing Save File of the game, no matter if you have completed it or not. The Materia will become available to you at the start of Chapter 2.

Ramuh Materia

Just like Leviathan, the Ramuh Materia is a reward for anyone who has played Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade. The game will check for a save file, no matter if you have completed it or not and if you have you’ll be able to use Ramuh at the start of Chapter 2.

Magic Pot Materia

The Magic Pot Materia is an optional Material that is exclusive to the Digital Deluxe Edition of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. If you have preordered or purchased it, you should be able to collect yours at the start of Chapter 2.
