Rumour — New Battlefield Game Will Have Free-To-Play Battle Royale, ‘Back To Its Roots Approach’

According to a report on Insider-Gaming, the new Battlefield game is going to take place around 2025 — 2023 and will offer a “back to its roots approach” with 64-player matches and a four-class system. Furthermore, Ripple Effect Studio is reportedly working on a ‘new experience’ including a free-to-play Battle Royale title.EA is reportedly following a similar strategy to Activision by launching a premium title with a battle royale companion title, and is masterminded by Byron Beede, who has worked on live service experiences for Call of Duty .This Battlefield game currently has two game modes including Battle Royale and a Gauntlet mode, which sees players competing in objective-based modes; the lowest scoring team is then kicked out after each mission.Related Content — Upcoming PS5 Games 2024: The Best PS5 Games Coming Soon The new Battlefield game has yet to be officially announced but EA has previously hinted that it will not be released until 2025, with Insider-Gaming claimed it is arriving in October of that year.
