Call of Duty has lost another 6,000 accounts which Activision’s proprietary Ricochet Anti-Cheat system had found to be cheating as the publisher continues to bolster its in-game enforcement efforts. You’ve got to give it to them, cheaters in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone 2 are a persistent bunch, but Activision continues to clamp down on them. “As part of ongoing security updates, a single telemetry system was taken offline for upgrades over the weekend,” the latest Warzone 2 patch notes say. “This action resulted in cheat developers claiming Ricochet Anti-Cheat was offline. It was not. As a result of monitoring activity over the weekend and the purposeful reactivation of this upgraded system, Team Ricochet was able to identify and ban over 6,000 accounts for cheating and hacking from February 16 to February 20.”Activision’s continued efforts to eradicate game-ruining players in Call of Duty has seen the publisher deploy new technology, such as the Splat system introduced in November. By using machine learning and the Ricochet anti-cheat system, the Splat system is able to identify cheaters and randomly deploy their parachute to send “them careening into the ground after they deploy.” It’s not just cheaters that Activision has been cracking down on either. As reported in January, the AI-powered voice chat moderation tool introduced last year has already helped the publisher issue enforcement action to “more than two million accounts” for breaking the Call of Duty Code of Conduct. In other Call of Duty news, Xbox boss Phil Spencer recently told Game File that Microsoft’s “intent is the full portfolio of games from ZeniMax, Activision Blizzard, and XGS — Xbox Game Studios — will be on Game Pass, day one,” suggesting that upcoming Call of Duty games could be added to the service on the day they launch. As for the series’ previous games, we still don’t know when they’ll arrive on the service, but Diablo 4 will join Xbox Game Pass next month, hopefully kickstarting the arrival of Activision Blizzard’s titles. While we wait for Activision Blizzard games to begin showing up in the service, take a look at our list of the best games on Game Pass; you might find a new favorite!
