Things haven’t been going smoothly for Blizzard for some time, and now it seems that their two highly anticipated upcoming titles, Overwatch 2 and Diablo IV, will once again be delayed, likely outside of 2022.The news comes from Blizzard themselves in a statement released earlier today titled as an “Update On Our Pipeline”, which read “While we are still planning to deliver a substaintial amount of content from Blizzard next year, we are now planning for a later launch for Overwatch 2 and Diablo IV than originally expected.”Of course this doesn’t really confirm that we won’t be getting either of these titles in 2022, but it shouldn’t be ruled out that it could be 2023 before we see anything more on either game from Blizzard. The statement continued to say “These are two of the most eagerly anticipated titles in the industry, and our teams have made great strides towards completion in recent quarters. But we believe giving the teams some extra time to complete production and continue growing their creative resources to support the titles after launch will ensure that these releases delight and engage their their communities for many years into the future.”Hopefully what this extra time will allow the development teams to finish both games without being put through a terrible crunch period. What is perhaps interesting though is that this could make either of these games PS5 only, since their release date could potentially be after Sony is done supporting the console.Source – [Twitter]
