It looks as if Capcom is aiming to leverage upon the goodwill surrounding the Resident Evil series with no less than five titles now in development, that is according to the latest word on the grapevine.Coming by way of noted Resident Evil aficionado Dusk Golem on Discord, (via Reddit) it’s said that work is underway around five new games – a Capcom five, if you will – that is being spearheaded by Resident Evil 9, which will be the last in the current story arch.Interestingly, Dusk Golem also relays excitement around a new Resident Evil project that likely won’t release until late 2026 or early 2027, so it’s anyone’s guess as to what that may be.Given the way events were shaped up within Resident Evil 4 Remake, it’s expected that one of the five titles is in fact a remake of Resident Evil 5, particularly, too, as Wesker’s voice actor recently revealed that he is working on an anticipated PlayStation game.Related Content — Upcoming PS5 Games 2024: The Best PS5 Games Coming SoonGiven Resident Evil 4 Remake director Yasuhiro Anpo has expressed interest in continuing the current arch of remakes, the more wishful of us are hoping for a Code Veronica remake but it stands to reason that perhaps the original game will be ahead in the queue, if anything just to cement that through line of the main series.Either way, it looks like it’s full steam ahead for Resident Evil at the present moment, which is of course music to our ears.
