Packers Twitter goes nuts after snapping Cardinals winning streak

The Green Bay Packers handed the Arizona Cardinals their first loss of the season, and it came in thrilling fashion.

The streak…is over for the Arizona Cardinals. Their undefeated season is now history, and it is all thanks to the Green Bay Packers.

With Green Bay leading 24-21 in the closing seconds of the game, the Cardinals marched all the way down to the red zone after stuffing their opponents on fourth-and-goal. But on second-and-goal, quarterback Kyler Murray threw a pass intended for wide receiver A.J. Green, but it was intercepted by cornerback Rasul Douglas to secure the victory.

Twitter users lost their collective minds following the Cardinals losing their first game of the season.

Of course, the most attention was directed towards Green, who did not even turn around to look at Murray. That allowed Douglas, who the Packers signed off Arizona’s practice squad almost a month ago, to pick off the pass.

Green Bay entered this game undermanned, as top wide receivers Davante Adams and Allen Lazard were placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list earlier this week. Yet, that was no issue for Rodgers, who targeted veteran Randall Cobb twice in the end zone.

Rodgers completed 22-of-37 of his passes for 184 yards and two touchdowns.

As for Murray, he did all he could to keep them in the game, including leading the Cardinals 94-yards down the field on their final drive before throwing the interception.

Murray threw for 274 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions while throwing 22 completions on 33 attempts. The Cardinals quarterback also ran for 21 yards on six carries.

This was perhaps the best Thursday Night Football game of the 2021 season, and it could very well be a matchup in this year’s playoffs. Green Bay has now won seven-games in a row, while the Cardinals look to continue to build upon their NFC West lead.
