As the latest version of 1.6 rolls in, it comes with an exciting event called “Critter Pick”. Like many other events in the game’s stellar universe, this particular one is also super fun and interactive. This article will provide you with an overview of the event, helping you navigate through the nuances of Critter Pick.
Critter Pick Guide
The Critter Pick is available until 5th February 2024. Afterward, Critter Pick will be accessible in the Conventional Memoir, allowing players to continue enjoying its gameplay without the rewards. To participate, you would need to be in Trailblazer Level 21 or above as well as complete the Trailblaze Continuance “The Blue — When the Stars of Ingenuity Shine.”
In this event, you get to customize and nurture your own creations. An intriguing aspect of Critter Pick is the possibility of genetic mutations, which can lead to new traits or the creation of rare creatures. Alongside that, complete Adventure Missions and explore the Seclusion Zone to gather Base Traits for your creations.
How To Play

To start the event, you need to interact with Asta and Ruan Mei. Visit the Lifeform Oven, which is central to creating new creatures. Players will need to select two parent creatures, each with unique genetic traits. This careful selection is crucial as it determines the characteristics of the newly created critter.
The creation of creatures revolves around their genetic characteristics, which are split into two types: Base Traits and Mutant Traits. Base Traits are the fundamental genetic elements, including aspects like skin and filling, forming the basic structure of a creature. On the other hand, Mutant Traits add an element of uniqueness, leading to a variety of distinctive creations. This allows players to experiment with different combinations to bring to life unique creatures, with the goal of collecting all rare critters.
Mission Series
The event comes with its own series of missions that you must finish to complete the event objectives and reach research level 6.
- Critter Pick: Nurture – First you need to respond to Asta’s message. Then, make your way to the Seclusion Zone and craft your very first critter. Next thing you know, it has escaped and you will need to find it. You will find it on the lower platform in the room near the metal boxes. Once you’ve found it, begin nurturing your initial rare creation. Keep up the nurturing process until you reach level 2.
- Critter Pick: Care – Next to the Lifeform Oven, interact with the Helper Robot which will ask you to accommodate the creations in the Kitty Cot. Go there and place your creations. After you have done so, you will hear some noises that you would need to investigate. Some creations of Ruan Mei have created a ruckus and with the advice of Helper Robot, you will assign a dining and resting area. Two mini-missions will allow you to place your critters in these areas.
- Critter Pick: Detective Peppy Interlude – This mission makes you enter a three-stage Warring Expedition called “It All Started With a Man and a Dog”. During this, you will be controlling Peppy, solving puzzles, and interacting with other critters. Make sure to avoid monsters so that no harm comes to the little Puppy. Once you have obtained the lost Curio, which is the main target of this mission, tell Asta about the Expedition.
- Critter Pick: Detective Peppy Interlude – This is the final Mission which requires you to reach Research Level 6. Talk to Wisteria Cake around the Lifeform Oven after the text from Asta. You will get new base critter creations to make the rest of the rare creations! Lastly, take an adorable picture of you and your critters. The quest will end after you send the picture to Ruan Mei and finish the final dialogues.
Recipes
There are a total of 9 rare creations with distinct recipes. The materials can be found in shops, from characters and enemies, or by completing the missions.
- Trash Cake – This rare creation is automatically unlocked by following the event tutorial and is your very first critter.
